There is a book that I have that has writing prompts in them. I will not tell the prompt that I am using for this, so that I do not give away the prompts for sake of the author not being able to get additional sales. The current book I am using is “5-Minute Daily Writing Prompts” by Tarn WIlson. I will, however, include the story that comes out of the prompt to share some of my writing here on the blog. These prompts ask you to only write for a limited amount of time, so I will only write for a few minutes with each of these particular prompts. This may change with future prompt books that I use.
PROMPT #2
“What do you see when you look around the room, Detective Boyle,” asked the officer as he rubbed his fingers through his beard as he looked around the room standing in front of them.
“It is hard to believe that this is the room of someone that killed someone else. There are shelves upon shelves of books of different genres. The other shelves have Strawberry Shortcake and Rainbow Brite themed items all over the place. Maybe that is a sign of a mind that simply never grew up, but it doesn’t lead me to believe that they would kill Lisa Grimaldi of the Grimaldi dynasty.” The officer nodded and followed Detective Boyle into the room. “The only thing in this room that gives me any pause is how disorganized they have their clothes, but their closet is the size of a pea for goodness sake. They have clothes thrown in all parts of the room and they do not look like to be in any logical formation to tell what is clean or dirty.”
The officer agreed with Detective Boyle’s assessment of the room, “It seems like a very basic room with very little to it.”
“Yes, Officer Pulanski. The only things that add spark are the pictures on the wall that have various superheroes. In the corners are more pictures that should be up on walls, but instead they sit in a corner collecting dust. I would definitely accuse this individual of maybe being ADHD or autistic, but I do not know that I could accuse them of a heinous murder.”
“How did we get here then, Detective?”
“We received a tip on the hotline about this person being connected, but no one has seen them for days. No one even knows where Shaun is at this point. How are we to get any answers? The only reason we were even able to get into the room was because of their roommates. We need to find Shaun Winters and this room is definitely not going to give us any details on that.”
The officer nods as he steps out of Shaun Winter’s bedroom and heads back out the door of the house that they had been led to. As the officer reaches the porch, Detective Boyle says, “We may have a clue.”
